I have owned this watch for approx 6 weeks now. It comes with a very thick manual which thankfully is easy to understand. It needs to be thick because there are lots of functions.
I use this for mountain biking and hill walking and going fishing. It is very robust, surprisingly larger than I thought it would be and easy to use.
I have a caravan in North Wales I use at weekends which is about 2 miles inland so the tidal graph is very handy for me to know the best times to wander off down to the coast with my fishing tackle. Also, the moon graph is handy for predicting when the highest tides will be in the month.
The compass is no replacement for a proper Silva compass but would come in handy in the odd situation where you may need to know your bearings when you don't have a compass at hand.
The altimeter needs calibrating regularly as it works from baromatric pressure. My house is at 115metres and every few days depending on the changes in weather it can read 180 metres or 50 metres so you must calibrate it to a known height on an OS map before you set off.
Also, the barometer may need calibrating from time to time. I usually set mine to the weather page on BBCs website. The barometer is good because it records history of the weather hourly as does the altimeter.
There are plenty of other goodies on this watch and it's a handy tool.
If you don't need these extra functions then you might be better off with a more basic G-Shock. If you want more then I would go for a GPS watch.

I wanted visible:- Day/Date/Time (in24hrs)with a light, water resisitant and a none resin strap, (because they keep splitting)BINGO. A simple watch, which will apparently time things, or count down, or tell me the time in New York, and such things. Only down side is the convex lens, presumably to slightly magnify the display, I've had similar before, therefore I accept that it will get scratched, and I will have to live with. It's like anything else, the first little scratch looks terrible but the hundredth doesn't matter a jot.

This is one hell of a watch in every sense coming from Casio who are normally known for their classic resin body G shocks that we have all come to like over the last 25 Years.

This watch borders on being a Maritime/Aviation themed Chronograph featuring solar power and radio controlled timekeeping with alarm, timer, stopwatch, world time and a host of features even James Bond would love. I was impressed by the solid stainless feel and look to this watch and that also apart from slight wear to the Black IP band does not age at all and looks new the whole time. The black IP band was a concern to me but when researching about testing these in simulated persperation tests they have a 24-48 hour anti abrasion green light, the only wear is on the inside of the bracelet where the trifold clasp sits in when the watch is being worn.One small quibble is the complex operation and having to really study the instruction manual but dont let that put you off as once you have mastered each operation you are in business plus these watches are made for people who want extensive operation and gadgetry. Overall the two tone grey colouring make this a stunning timepiece and is excellent value for the money paid and could easily give those old dated Rolex submariners a run for their money as Casio have come up with a high quality and robust watch which will suit businessmen and travellers alike plus anyone in aviation/special ops/military.

The watch to last a lifetime.
